Sarah Lindsey Pavan is a former professional indoor volleyball player from Canada, who switched to beach volleyball in 2013. Most Notable Sport Results and Awards

Sarah Pavan’s journey to the sport of volleyball began in 2004. She started to play volleyball at the University of Nebraska. It’s fair to say that Sarah Pavan was one of the best players of the team. It’s worth noting that she greatly contributed to the team during the 2006 NCAA Women’s Volleyball Tournament. As a result, the college team won the tournament and received the award “Most Outstanding Player”.

Later, Sarah Pavan became the AVCA National Player of the Year (2006).

As previously mentioned, Sarah Pavan is a volleyball player with a striving for excellence. So, she continued to work hard and improved her results over time. The next her award was winning the Honda-Broderick Cup (2007).

Sarah Pavan earned the award the Big 12 Player of the Year three times (since 2005 to 2007).

She also won the award ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American of the Year two times (since 2007 to 2008).

Sarah Pavan and Heather Bansley joined the world of beach volleyball and started preparing for the next summer Olympic Games Rio 2016. However, the most important thing was that Sarah had the chance that her big dream would come true in 2016.

Sarah Pavan and Heather Bansley successfully participated at the Prague Open 2015 beach volleyball tournament and took the 2-nd place.

The next year, Sarah Pavan and Heather Bansley women’s beach volleyball pair took the 2-nd place at the tournament that took place in Porec, Croatia. As a result, the pair earned Canada’s first ever FIVB Major Series medal for women.

Later, the team also participated at such beach volleyball competitions as the Major Series (that took place in Gstaad, Switzerland) and the Grand Slam (that took place in Yokohama, Japan) and took the 3-rd place at each of these tournaments.

The pair took the 4-th place at the FIVB World Tour Finals 2015.

Sarah Pavan and Heather Bansley made the history of Canada’s beach volleyball as the pair that took the 5-th place and demonstrated the best results at the world championships.

Sarah Pavan and Heather Bansley won the bronze medal at the Moscow Grand Slam 2016 beach volleyball tournament.

In 2016, the pair also won the silver medal at the Porec Major Series beach volleyball competition.

– Sarah Pavan has been asked the question about the biggest challenges that she experiences during her sport career. The athlete has answered that it’s always hard for her to be away from home when she needs to participate in volleyball tournament. Also, the athlete says that she misses holidays and birthdays very much.

– Sarah Pavan has been asked the question if there are times in her sport career when she doesn’t train. The player has replied that she hasn’t missed any training within the last 4 years. Sarah has also explained that she almost doesn’t have time for rest. The reality is Sarah Pavan plays both indoor and beach volleyball. That means that she goes in for two sports. So, one season ends and another one begins.

– Sarah Pavan has been asked the question if it’s hard for her to adapt herself to the sport of beach volleyball because she has been playing indoor volleyball for many years. Sarah says that the most difficult thing is that she finds it hard to play alongside only one person. The athlete obviously feels more comfortable to play with six players.

Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games

Sarah Pavan and Heather Bansley pair played in Pool-E during the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. It’s important to note that the team won each of 3 matches with a 2-0 set score while playing in Pool-E. So, the team successfully advanced to the round of 16.

In the round of 16, Sarah Pavan and Heather Bansley had to compete against another Canada’s women’s beach volleyball pair that consisted of such players as Jamie Broder and Kristina Valjas. Sarah Pavan and Heather Bansley won the match (21–16, 21–11) and successfully advanced to the quarterfinals of the Olympic beach volleyball tournament.

Sarah Pavan and Heather Bansley competed against women’s beach volleyball team from Germany that consisted of Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst. Unfortunately, Sarah Pavan and Heather Bansley lost the match (14-21, 14-21). As a result, Sarah Pavan and Heather Bansley finished the Olympic beach volleyball tournament with the 5-th place. It’s important to point out that Sarah Pavan and Heather Bansley have demonstrated Canada’s best ever Olympic result during the tournament. That means that Sarah Pavan and her partner Heather Bansley have become one of the best women’s beach volleyball pairs in the history of Canadian volleyball.

Sarah Pavan changed her beach volleyball player in September 2016 and now she plays with another female Canadian beach volleyball player, Melissa Humana-Paredes.
